House Foods Turns to Solar Energy Starting in July!
Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Garden Grove, California has become even more impressive! House Foods has partnered with Blue Oak Energy in order to install a new 215kW photovoltaic solar electric system. Located on the rooftop, this system uses solar modules from Sharp and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 675,000 pounds every year. This is equivalent to planting sixty-five acres of pine forest!
By producing energy during the day, House Foods will be reducing its energy costs in a process known as "load shaving," a benefit from solar electric systems that reduces stress on the utility grid.
"Installing a solar electric system at our facility is pivotal in meeting our company's environmental goals and delivering long-term customer value," says Shigeru Natake, President of House Foods America Corporation. "Blue Oak Energy is able to apply their knowledge and expertise from unique solar projects across the US to our facility here in California."
"House Foods delivers quality food products and is continuing to uphold an environmental commitment to their customers with this transition to producing electricity from a rooftop solar electric system," adds Tobin Booth, CEO of Blue Oak Energy.
The project is still under construction and will be completed this July. We are very excited about this bold step toward alternative energy and are confident that House Foods and our customers will greatly benefit from the new solar electric system. Thank you to Blue Oak Energy for helping us make this possible! |

House Foods Brings the Popular Ukon Energy Drink to the US
Ukon Energy is a turmeric extract drink with fortified nutrients, and is now one of the most popular turmeric-based drinks in the world. After selling over 120 million bottles of Ukon Energy in Japan during 2009, House Foods jumped at the opportunity to bring the popular drink to the United States.
Turmeric is a golden spice recognized in Asia and India for its medicinal properties and many health-promoting benefits. With its turmeric base and lack of caffeine, Ukon Energy is certainly set apart from typical energy drinks. "Ukon Energy delivers the power of turmeric with a refreshing flavor that excites your palate with a stimulating aroma and sweet taste," says Yoko Difrancia, marketing manager at House Foods America. "We are delighted to finally bring this incredibly popular beverage to the United States."
Ukon Energy has a mere 30 calories per serving and contains vitamin B6 as well as vitamin E. Its convenient compact bottle makes it the ideal on-the-go beverage for any busy lifestyle. This will be the first opportunity for consumers to taste Ukon Energy in the US, and the product can be easily found in Asian markets nationwide!
