Corporate Information

US Headquaters and Plant

Thank you for your interest in House Foods America Corporation (HFAC). Information about our company is provided below. As one of the largest Tofu manufacturers in the United States, HFAC has two goals:

  1. To provide the best products to consumers and business customers
  2. To bring the rich and tasty Japanese food culture to the United States

House Foods America Corporation is composed of three operations. Its first and core operation is manufacturing and distribution of Tofu products. The second operation is the importing of processed foods from its parent company, House Foods Corporation, Japan (HFC). HFC is Japan's largest processor of spices, as well as the largest manufacturer and seller of such popular products as curry, stew mixes, and ready-to-heat foodstuffs. The third operation is managing a chain of curry restaurants, which have now grown to eleven locations in the greater Los Angeles and San Diego areas, with the latest restaurant addition in Northern California.

In 1981, a sales office was established in Los Angeles with the hope of introducing Japanese-style curry to America. Two years later in 1983, HFC acquired the Hinode Tofu brand, one of the oldest and most respected brands in the country, as well as its manufacturing facility. To suit the American lifestyle while still keeping the same tasty, high standards, Hinode was renamed as House Premium Tofu. In the same year, the first Curry House restaurant was opened in LA's Little Tokyo district, introducing Americans to Japanese Food with a twist!

By 1997, a new state-of-the-art facility was completed in Garden Grove, California, which would become HFAC's new Tofu manufacturing facility. At that time, all three operations were consolidated at this one location, allowing for smoother and more efficient business functions.

New Jersey Plant

HFAC opened an office in New York in 2000 in order to expand its business to the East Coast. In October 2006, a brand new manufacturing facility was opened in Somerset, New Jersey. This allowed for the delivery of fresh Tofu to East Coast, Midwest, and Southeast markets.

We at House Foods are strongly dedicated to upholding our environmental commitment of contributing to a clean, healthy environment. In an effort to expand our use of green practices, a 215kW photovoltaic solar electric system was installed at our headquarters in Garden Grove, California in July 2010. The benefit is not only lower energy costs, but also a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 675,000 pounds per year.

We pride ourselves on satisfying the needs, wishes, and suggestions of our customers and clients.

We hope that our excellent relationships with all of our consumers continue and that everyone gets a chance to experience House Foods products!
