Smoky Tennessee BBQ Tofu with Roasted Spring Onions

Tofu smothered with your favorite smoky barbecue sauce, baked to perfection and served with roasted spring onions.

Cooking Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F.

  • Cut tofu into 1/2 inch strips, widthwise. Mix together olive oil and tamari and brush each piece of tofu, all sides, with mixture. Place evenly on a sheet of parchment.
  • Bake tofu for 10 minutes, flip, and bake another 10 minutes.
  • At this time, coat onions in olive oil, salt, and pepper. Place on another sheet pan. Add the onions to oven, while you remove pan with tofu and spoon BBQ sauce on each strip, liberally. Bake tofu for another 10 minutes (and you can add a little more sauce at end of baking if you’d like), along with the onions. Remove and serve together.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. House Foods Tofu Extra Firm, drained and pressed extremely well so most water is removed
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. tamari (or soy sauce)
  • ½ cup your favorite smoky barbecue sauce

For Onions:

  • 1 bunch green onions, washed and patted dry
  • 1½ Tbsp. olive oil
  • ½ tsp. kosher salt
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
