Southern Fried Tofu & Slaw

Everything’s better in the South! Golden, crunchy tofu paired with tangy peach jam and creamy slaw on the side

Cooking Directions

  • Mix peach jam with lime juice in a small ramekin. Set aside.
  • Whisk buttermilk and hot sauce in a shallow dish.
  • Remove House Foods Extra Firm Tofu from packaging and press gently with paper bowls to remove excess water. Cut tofu block in half widthwise into two rectangles. Add tofu to buttermilk mixture and marinate for 10 minutes on each side.
  • Whisk flour, Cajun seasoning, and salt in a separate bowl. Dip tofu in flour mixture, turn to coat, and then dip back in the marinade. Repeat.
  • Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350° in a large pot. Fry the tofu on both sides until golden brown and crispy, about 3 minutes.
  • Serve with peach sauce and coleslaw.

Ingredients

For Fried Tofu:

  • 1 pkg. House Foods Premium Tofu Firm
  • 1½ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup hot sauce
  • 1½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Cajun seasoning
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Sauce:

  • ½ cup peach jam
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • * Serve with coleslaw
