Mushrooms combined with tofu and spices give this meatless burger a bold and rich flavor.
Set a large pan to medium high heat and add a bit of oil. Once oil is hot add mushrooms and sauté until browned then set aside.
In a food processor combine cashews with 1 tablespoon of oil until it forms a paste or cashew butter.
Crumble tofu in a large bowl and combine it with cashew butter, mushrooms, oats, tamari, sugar, onion powder, garlic, salt and pepper.
Form 6 patties from mixture; they should be about ¼ inch thick.
In a pan set to medium high heat add a bit of oil; once oil is hot add patties. Let patties brown from 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove from heat once patties are done and let them cool for 1 – 2 minutes.
Prepare your burger, add desired toppings and condiments.
