How to Prep Tofu Shirataki

It's super easy to prepare your tofu shirataki noodles! Follow these quick tips, and you'll be a pro in no time.

Shirataki noodles are packaged in liquid to preserve and maintain the structure of the noodles overtime. They normally have a shelf life of up 180 days, that’s 6 months! We highly suggest rinsing or parboiling the noodles before eating it, as the water in which the noodles are packaged may have an unpleasant aroma due to the chemical inherent to the konjac plant.

But don’t let the aroma of this shirataki noodles overwhelm you! Follow these simple steps to enjoy the perfect swap for pastas and noodle dishes:

    1. Drain water from package and rinse well under running hot water.
    2. Microwave for 1 minute or parboil for 2-3 minutes and pat dry well.
    3. Place on a hot pan without any grease or liquids. Fry over a medium-high heat until you see water steaming out of the noodles, without drying them out – about 5 minutes.
    4. Cut noodles into manageable size and enjoy in your favorite dishes!
      **You don’t need to cook Shirataki noodles. They are already cooked. All you have to do is open the package and drain; as each variety comes packed in liquid.
